Next to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google has introduced a new way to buy its phones — the Pixel Pass. If you dive into the Google ecosystem and use services like YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium, Pixel Pass might be something to consider.
Here’s what you need to know about the Pixel Pass: what it is, the price, what it covers, and whether it deserves to be shot.

What is a Pixel Pass?
Pixel Pass is a bulk subscription for everything from Google that allows you to get its latest low-cost smartphones distributed every two years.
Pixel Pass is similar to a typical network company contract that allows you to own a new device and pay a small monthly fee.
Similar to network company contracts, the Pixel Pass also includes the option to upgrade to a new Pixel smartphone every two years.
In addition to the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel Pass also includes several subscription services from Google, such as YouTube Premium and Google One.
What is included in Pixel Pass?
Google incorporates a few applications into Pixel Pass.
- Access to YouTube Premium (usually $ 11.99 / month plus YouTube Music Premium), Google One with 200GB of cloud storage ($ 2 / month or $ 20 per year), and Google Play Pass ($ 4.99 / month or $ 29 per year).
- Google Phone Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. The total price starts at $ 45 per month with the Pixel 6 Pixel Pass plan and goes up to $ 55 per month for the Pixel 6 Pro.
- Google One is a leading service that provides cloud storage access to over 15GB of Google that provides users free of charge. Storage starts at 100GB at a monthly cost of $ 2 or $ 20 per year and goes up to 2TB for $ 10 per month or $ 100 per year.
- YouTube Premium offers YouTube views without ads for $ 11.99. YouTube Music Premium provides music streaming and is part of the YouTube Premium subscription.
- Google Play Pass is similar to Apple Arcade, as it offers access to dozens of Android games and apps for a monthly fee of $ 4.99 or $ 29 per year, all without ads or in-app purchases.
- Google Preferred Care offers two years of accidental injury and one year of mechanical coverage, effective after the expiry of the manufacturer’s one-year warranty. Prices vary, but for the Pixel 6, it costs $ 7 a month or $ 149 for two years of installation, while the Pixel 6 Pro costs $ 9 a month or $ 199 total.
- If you do not know Play Pass, there is still another subscription service from Google that allows you to access premium apps and games in the Google Play Store for free.
To add a layer of cake to the cake, Pixel Pass also integrates with Google Preferred Care. Preferred Care provides two years of accidental damage to your device and one year of mechanical breakdown cover that expires after the expiration of the standard one-year warranty.
By combining all of these into one package, Pixel Pass adds the added convenience of managing all your Google services in one place.
How much does a Pixel Pass cost?
Pixel Pass costs $ 45 per month for Pixel 6 and $ 55 per month for Pixel 6 Pro. You can pay for the Pixel Pass right here in the Google store. And if you are on Google Fi-Fi, you can also sign up for Pixel Pass, which will save you $ 5 a month on your phone system.
Pixel Pass price not fixed, however. For someone who wants to upgrade Google One storage, for example, you will have to pay extra. Google lets you upgrade to another system to get more storage — up to 30TB of storage.
By doing so, you will have to pay for the price difference between the Google One 200GB system and your new system.
Is the Pixel Pass eligible?
Pixel Pass saves you a lot of money if you find other Google services useful. But is the Pixel Pass worth it?
That depends on two things. The first is whether you already pay for some or all of the services included. Second, whether you have the money to pay for the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro before.
If you are deeply embedded in the Google ecosystem and pay for YouTube Premium, Google One, and Play Pass, Pixel Pass will save you money in the long run. Not to mention that you get the latest devices from Google, and you have the option to upgrade every two years.
But if you use other third-party methods in Google services, Pixel Pass may be difficult to sell, especially if you have the money to buy the latest Pixel phones. Alternatively, if the benefits do not interest you, you should check the carrier deals, which may be lower. However, the problem with network operators is that your device will be locked in the network of that network company. To answer that question we need to do some math and make some assumptions. Suppose you register for all these services separately over two years and you pick up the cheapest option. The 24-month cost of services alone will cost at least $ 534.
Add to $ 599 Pixel 6 and that comes to $ 1,133 within two years. At $ 899, purchasing a Pixel 6 Pro in addition to these subscription services adds up to $ 1,433 within two years. With the Pixel Pass, the two-year cost of the Pixel 6 comes to $ 1,080, while the Pixel 6 Pro hits $ 1,320 in 24 months.
If you are looking for one of the new Pixel phones and many of the above apps, the Pixel Pass is the way to go as you will save $ 150 – not a lot of savings but a good change over time.
If you are not interested in these services, however, you may be better off looking for company car deals already appearing as part of the Pixel 6 pre-order process. Pixel phones can be found cheaper a few months after their release.
What Happens When You Cancel A Pixel Pass?
Google does not shut you down for 24 months. You can cancel the Pixel Pass whenever you want and pay the remaining cost of your device at the normal price. If you cancel, Google will disconnect access to installed services again.
