The iPhone 13 Vs. iPhone 12 face-off shows how risky phone decisions can be made, even if the phones are launched for a different year.
The iPhone 13 is a new model, offering better chipset, cameras, battery life, and other new software tricks. The other iPhones however have the advantage of being significantly cheaper, as Apple keeps it as a mid-range model at the moment. Are those extra features worth the extra money? That depends on you, but we can help you find it.
We tested and used the iPhone a lot, so hopefully, we can say that the iPhone 13 is improving on the iPhones in almost every important way. But the biggest improvements you will see with the new iPhones come in the form of longer battery life and better displays. Although there are a few iPhone 13 issues out there, these are the best phones you can get.

iPhone 13 Vs.other iPhones: Design and display
From a design point of view, there is not much difference between the iPhone 13 and the other iPhones – save one unique look. That could be a note on the iPhone 13, the smallest of all four new models (20% smaller, actually, according to Apple). Otherwise, the look of the phones is the same, with the same flat edges and Ceramic Shield displays of greater durability.
iPhone 13 vs other iPhones
Newer models are heavier – probably because of the larger batteries Apple has installed on the iPhone 13 – and there are new color options. The pink model joins black (Midnight), white (Starlight), blue, and Product [RED] on iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. The new color of the iPhone 13 Pro lineup is Sierra Blue, which combines options with graphite, gold, and silver.
They are the shows where Apple has made some major changes to the iPhone 12, even though the AMOLED panels used in the iPhone 13 range have the same size as their predecessors. Instead, Apple promises a brighter display – 28% brighter than the screens of the actual iPhone. The iPhone 13 and 13 mini can emit 800 light while the iPhone 13 Pro models raise things to 1,000 nits.
iPhone 13 vs. other iPhones display
The big show story comes with the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which are Apple’s first phones with ProMotion displays. That means they can drastically change their refresh rate between 10Hz and 120Hz to reflect your on-screen activity. The other iPhones models are stuck at 60Hz, such as the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, and iPhone 12 mini.
iPhone 13 Vs.other iPhones : Cameras
Cameras have become a major point of difference between the iPhone 13 and the other iPhones, even though the number of lenses has not changed from phone to phone. That’s what Apple has done with the camera hardware that makes the camera experience completely different from the iPhone 13.
iPhone 13 vs other iPhones
Both the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini offer a 12MP main camera with the largest sensor ever used on the dual-camera iPhone. It should allow 47% light over the other iPhone’s camera for sharp images. These two types of iPhone 13 games feature the photo enhancement feature Apple added to the other iPhones last year, and the ultrawide lens promises more detail in the dark areas of your photos.
The iPhone 13 Pro models feature some amazing camera changes. The main sensor is great for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max for better low-resolution images, while the ultrawide angle lens has a wide f / 1.8 aperture. (It was f / 2.4 for the other iPhones models.) Also, that would mean bright, sharp images, even when the lights are low. And the 77mm phone lens on the iPhone 13 Pro models now gives us 3x zoom, an improvement over the 2.5x zoom found on the other iPhones.
iPhone 13 Pro
Night Mode works on all three iPhone 13 Pro cameras, while the iPhone 13 Pro offers sensory switching, instead of limiting that feature to the Pro Max model.
Another area that should be highlighted is Cinematic mode, a video capture feature available for all four iPhone 13 models. You will not see a feature like this on the iPhone 12.
Working with 5G
The iPhone 13 models are all powered by the A15 Bionic processor, upgraded from the A14 Bionic chip found on all iPhone 12 models. Considering the A14 was the fastest-on-chip system we tested, translating the powerful performance of iPhones new.
After testing the iPhone 13 models, we found that the new chipset is faster than the A14 inside the other iPhones, although there is no surprising gap for the iPhone 13 vs. other iPhones.
One thing about the iPhone 13 Pro models – they have a 5-core GPU, compared to the 4 graphics processor on the standard iPhone 13. iPhones. Indeed, in 3DMark’s Wildlife Unlimited trial, the iPhone 13 Pro produced 70 frames per second on the iPhone 12 Pro’s 51-fps output.
The iPhone 12 boasts excellent 5G compatibility, but Apple says the new phones should support more 5G bands. At the end of the year, Apple said support for 5G on iPhone 13 models would double with more than 200 carriers in 60 countries and regions.
iPhone 13 ships with iOS 15 pre-installed. The iPhone 12 models have been released for iOS 14, but they are all worth downloading for the update of iOS 15.
iPhone 13 Vs. other iPhones: Battery life and charging
Apple does not disclose battery sizes when announcing new phones, so we do not know how big the iPhone 13 batteries are compared to their iPhone 12. counterparts.
As you can see, each iPhone 13 model has surpassed its other iPhones counterparts in our battery tests, with improvements ranging from modest to standard iPhone 13 mini to outstanding features on both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Both models of the iPhone 13 Pro have found a place in our list of leading battery life where we see phones lasting more than 11 hours in our tests.
Like the iPhone 12, the iPhone 13 models will be shipped without an installed charger.
iPhone 13 Vs. other iPhones: Decision
You expect phones to improve from one generation to the next, but the differences between the iPhone 13 and other iPhones are obvious. Better storage options, faster processor, and camera upgrades are not enough to make this an important upgrade. Throw in improved battery life and – in the case of the iPhone 13 Pro models – the displays are instantly refreshing, and this is a big step from last year.
Although the other iPhones models were good, they are not the same as the iPhone 13. brings. And that is good news if you are in the iPhone market right now.
